Some users try out Topicmarks with texts that are too short to summarize. This is why we now have a new error message advising people to try Topicmarks with larger texts.
Topicmarks is designed to condense long texts into short summaries of 3-50 sentences. When your text is already 10 sentences or less, there is nothing for us to condense. To see the full power of Topicmarks, please try a text of at least a few pages.
NB Topicmarks cannot (yet) paraphrase text (put the same meaning in different words). If this is what you are looking for, you may want to try http://translate.google.com to translate your text into a foreign language and back.

Beta shows impressive results, few glitches reported
Topicmarks condenses texts for thousands of users, and most of you find the results stunning. But our technology is still being fine-tuned, and sometimes a text will fall through the maze. If you do experience a problem, you can now let us know right away.
Are you impressed or is there a problem? Use your thumbs!
Every text knode now has two feedback buttons.
* Use the “thumb up” is to let us know when you’re particularly impressed, so that we can include it in our show case.
* “Thumb down” is to flag a text knode that falls short of your expectations. Click it and a little feedback box will ask you what is wrong; send off your feedback and our team will look into your complaint immediately.
Help us to weed out the 1% remaining problem cases
The new feedback buttons are already helping us to make Topicmarks work even better for you all. Fewer than 1% of text knodes are reported as problems, and we invariably find the cause or explain why Topicmarks won’t work well with your text (if it is already a short summary, for example).
But if you do happen to experience a problem, rest assured that we will be on it right away!

Topicmarks has just released its first public beta version. This is the first release of our machine reading service that is open for any Internet user to try. Registration is seamless: just upload a document for machine reading and your account will be created automatically.
Topicmarks attempts to help users cope with information overflow by identifying the gist of electronic documents before users have time to read them themselves. Our machine reading technology (patent pending) summarizes hundreds of pages in minutes, giving users a quick overview of the content and allowing them to dig deeper only into the topics they have a particular interest in.
The previous releases of Topicmarks were only available to select alpha testers. Now anybody can try Topicmarks for free: just upload or paste a text, click “try it now” and an account is created automatically and for free.
